The last square has been crocheted, the last end has been sewn in! I finally was able to complete my Star Afghan after 4 months of frustration, frogging, pleading, swearing and head banging! I thought at times that I would never complete the Afghan - that it was destined to be a UFO for the rest of its days! As with every other project that I attempt, sheer willpower and perseverance pulled me through again....my stubborn french-canadian side coming through!
To see the various pictures of the stages that I remembered to photograph & more pictures of the completed afghan, go to my Photobucket account: Star Afghan Pictures
Here is a picture of the final output:
The pattern is from Herrschners Blue-Ribbon Afghan Book - & is the pattern, Blue Star (It is actually featured on the cover) I switched to a trio of three colors - Cream, Lt. Sage and Country Rose.

GREAT job Princess. Now dump the books, bend the needles, stuff the remaining yarn in a pillow and go out and enjoy the upcoming Spring and Summer. In other words have some FUN doing something outside.
Your ability to see thru a task/project to completion is just one of many things that make you SPECIAL my Daughter. The Afgan is something to be pround of and I look forward to seeing it on E-Bay. lol. YOU DID MY GOOD PRINCESS
Wow! that is beautiful Kimberly!
You sewed all that together! (Faint!) Are you selling that on ebay? Have sold on ebay before? I don't want to discourage you, but I've never seen an afghan on ebay go for what it's worth, if it goes. :( But I think that should sell well at a craft show or a raffle type thing. Great job!

Wow! It's beautiful! You did a fabulous job! Isn't it amazing what stubbornness can accomplish sometimes? :)
I agree with your mom - go outside and enjoy the nice weather! (But maybe take a small crochet project with you... :)

Whoops - I agree with what your dad said. [blush!] (I swear, it's just that it's too early for me... :)

If I even thought of putting this on e-bay Dad (Not a chance though - way too much of my sweat, blood and tears in this :-) ) you would be required as my father to be the winning bidder :-)
I am trying to get outside some as the weather gets nicer! As this is Brussels, I still have lots of Rain Days to stay at home and crochet! Along with the moments spent on Public Transportation! So the HOOKS (not needles unless I decide to try my hands at knitting) will not be bent, and my yarn is not going into a pillow!
That is VERY pretty!!! Creative, too! :D
Great job on the afghan! And thanks for the postcard!! :)
Wow! Looks great! :)
Oh Kimberly, it's awesome!!!! Gorgeous!!!
I have that book myself, and have looked at that pattern with longing. But I'm no where even near to being able to accomplish that. I am envious of your advanced skills! ;-)
Have a blessed day!

I love your quilt. I am anxious to see it be sure to bring it home with you and I love you. You did a beautiful job. Just gorgous. I could just cry. Love you, Grandma XXXOOO
I love it the color choice is awesome. I have the book and Herschnerrs sent me a corrected copy they told me the original one printed in the book was incorrect. Did you find any mistakes??? Dee in Florida
Hi! Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments - they mean a lot to me! Dee - I did indeed find some mistakes....but being a new crocheter (this was the first project that I started working on) I merely assumed that they were errors on my side! :-) From remembering back, the areas where I had issues was with the joining of the wedge sections with the center star section, and the corner borders - on both I just fudged the number of stitches to make it looked about right and come together nicely - there were a lot of frustrations though since I am the type of person to usually follow direction exactly!
It's beautiful. I'm full of admiration for anyone who can actually finish such a large piece of work, and so beautifully, too.
That is gorgeous and oh so cool looking!
Wonderful creation Kimberly!! Maybe you shouldnt think of selling that, its just too beautiful!! The colors you chose really worked well with the design.
