Pog mo thoin
Pog mo thoin - 'Kiss my ass.'You're one tough bastard, and if anyone doesn't like it, they can kiss your ass. You enjoy fighting and causing grievous bodily harm. Hey! What are you lookin' at, punk?
First, I grabbed this quiz from Lynlee's blog.
Second, as some background info, this was the first Irish phrase I learned from my Irish boyfriend, and about the only one that I really remember from my year of living there!
Third, I just do not think that it fits! I hate pain, avoid confrontation unless I am pushed to it or feel that it is just the right thing to do. I can have a temper and do swear (especially in the car) like a sailor sometimes.
Although I must say, I am who I am, and if someone has anything wrong with that and thinks that I should have to change, well they can Pog mo thoin! *grin*

At least you knew what your Irish boyfriend was saying! I dated a Welsh guy for a while and he would murmur these phrases in his wonderful accent... but never tell me what they meant! I never knew if they were sweet nothings or if he was cursing me out! :-)
How funny! With Richie I often wondered what he was saying....when he was speaking english!! LOL He started to teach me some of the gaelic he knew, but time ran out and I moved back to America. I still remember the basics - Caed mille failte (a thousand welcomes) Slainté (Cheers) Ag Cabhrú (Help!) Cad é? (What is it?) Tá brón orm (I'm Sorry)Ta gra agam ort (I love you).....
Impressive! The only one I know is Slainte... Sadly, I think Bennigans uses it as their advertising around St. Patty's Day! Oh, my Irish ancestors are probably turning in their graves over that! :-)
You don't seem like such a "kiss my arse" kind of phrase-slinger Kimberly...you seem more like you'd talk out an issue...
KIMBERLY ANN!!!!!!!!!!!!
